Ludo van der Heyden

Emeritus Professor of Technology and Operations Management, The INSEAD Chaired Professor of Corporate Governance

Ludo Van der Heyden has been Professor of Technology and Operations Management at INSEAD since 1988 and has been the INSEAD Chaired Professor in Corporate Governance since October 2010. He is the founding Academic Director of INSEAD’s Corporate Governance Initiative (ICGI) and, with colleagues, still co-directs the International Directors Programme and the Modern Governance in Banking (or IDP for Bankers, with Peter Nathanial).

He created the Value Creation for Owners and Directors programmes (with Massimo Massa). He directed the Advanced Management Program (INSEAD’s most senior general management programme, from 2000 to 2008), the INSEAD Zentrum Leipzig (1994-1999), was co-Dean of INSEAD (1990-1995), and also PhD Director & Associate Dean for Research (1989-1990).

Before joining INSEAD, Ludo Van der Heyden was on the faculty of the School of Organization and Management at Yale University (1980-1988) and of the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University (1978-80). He holds an Engineering Degree in Applied Mathematics from the Université Catholique de Louvain (1974) and a Ph.D. Degree in Administrative Sciences from Yale University (1979).

Adrian Tanase

CEO, Bucharest Stock Exchange

Adrian Tanase, 43, is the CEO of Bucharest Stock Exchange as of January 2018. As a capital markets professional, Adrian has 20 years of experience gathered in portfolio management.

Prior to joining Bucharest Stock Exchange, Adrian was CIO at NN Pensions, the largest private pension fund in Romania, CEO and Equity Investment Officer at ING Asset Management Romania, Equity Investment Officer at ING Life Insurance Romania and at KD Investments.

Adrian is economist by formation, with a BA in Economic Cybernetics, Statistics and Informatics from the Academy of Economic Studies in Bucharest, and a CFA degree, being a member of CFA Society Romania.

Marius Stefan

Founder, Autonom

Marius Stefan is a serial entrepreneur, passionate about lifelong learning. After graduating from the MBA program of the Robert H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland, he returned to the country and developed several retail, advertising and service businesses.

The majority of his time, is dedicated to Autonom (www.autonom.ro). The company was started as a project in 2006 and had increased by 2 digits each year since its inception. At the moment, it is the most extensive mobility network in Romania, with 44 agencies in 33 cities and a fleet of over 4,000 cars.

The management system is based on values and autonomy. Autonom is a learning organization which encourages the continuous personal development of all our colleagues. As a result of these efforts, Autonom is the only romanian-owned company that has been awarded the Best Employer Award (Aon Hewitt) for four years in a row (2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017 respectively).

Dan Stefan

Founder, Autonom

Dan Stefan is an entrepreneur and the other half of Autonom. After graduating from the Master Degree in International Business program at the University of Sorbonne, he worked in Financial Consultant for 4 years in Paris and in 2006 decided to return to the country annd developed the business along with his brother.

Leo Gherghina

Board Member, MedLife

Leo Gherghina is one of the most experienced people in the local investment fund industry.

With an MBA in aircrafting enginnering and multiple certifications from INSEAD Business School for the World, Leo started to work in private equity industry in 1996 and it is within Value4Capital, a company that manages an investment portfolio including the one owend by MedLife.

He has a relevant experience in corporate governance, his input in the system of rules, practices and processes are valuable for every company.

Sergiu Oprescu

Chairman of the Board, The Romanian Association of Banks

Sergiu Oprescu has extensive experience in banking and capital markets for more than 20 years. He curently holds the position of executive chairman of Alpha Bank Romania.

His past experience was in various senior management positions in financial sector companies such as Alpha Bank Romania, executive vice president, Alpha Bank Romania, CEO and vice chairman of Alpha Finance’s board of directors, president of the Bucharest Stock Exchange in 2001 – 2006.

Sergiu started in 2009 President Program in Leadership, Organizational Leadership, HBS Alumni at Harvard Business School and that was an added value to his professional status.

Steven van Groningen

President & CEO, Raiffaisen Bank

Steven van Groningen, was born in in the Netherlands but have lived the last 18 years in Romania, Russia and Hungary. He spent close to 15 years in Romania. Since 2002 is president and CEO of Raiffeisen Bank Romania, one of the largest banks in the country. He likes to be successful at what his doing, while maintaining a reasonable balance in life. He worked all his professional life in banking.

Steven van Groningen is also a member of the board for nominees at Fondul Proprietatea, a blogger and the most stable bank president.

Ana Maria Mihaescu

Board Member, MedLife

Since 2017 she has been an independent director in Administrative and Supervisory Boards at Raiffeisen Bank Romania, Medlife SA, Black Sea Oil and Gas, ICME or Friends of the National Museum of Art, mixing the economic activity with volunteering.

Ana Maria Mihaescu has had a successful career locally and internationally. She contributed to the establishment of Eximbank, acting as Director, Vice President and eventually President of the bank. Another 25 years followed with the World Bank Group, acting as Regional Manager over the past ten years and coordinating the IFC activity in 11 European countries, from Bucharest.

Felix Patrascanu

Founder, FAN Courier

Felix Patrascanu graduated from Law University in 1994. Exactly the same year he started collaboration with a courier company and three years later he was putting the foundations of the current FAN Courier company along with Adrian Mihai and Neculai Mihai.

Felix Patrascanu is a founding member of the Association of Courier Operators in Romania (AOCR), a member of the Romanian Business Leaders board and leader of the RePatriot project.

In 2014, Felix Pastrascanu was named entrepreneur of the Year in the second the new edition of the Business Review Gala, as well as Manager of the Year, granted by Govnet at the Courier Excellence Awards 2014.

Adrian Mihai

Founder, FAN Courier

In 1992, Adrian Mihai together with his brother Neculai Mihai founded Mihelga company witch main activity was to collect old iron. Six years later Felix Patrascanu joined him and his brother Neculai Mihai and founded FAN Courier in 1998.

Today FAN Courier ranks 12th in Top 100 most famous and long-standing Romanian brands and currently is market leader in his segment of activity. In the 20 years since its establishment, the founders of FAN Courier have approved investments of over 135 million euros.

Dr. Ilinca Rosetti

Vicepresident, First Bank & Operating Partner at J.C. Flowers & Co. Prior

Dr. Rosetti is an Operating Partner at J.C. Flowers & Co. Prior to joining the firm, Dr. Rosetti served as CEO of Mirabank, where she set up the business as a green field project. Previously, she also served as CEO for various banks within the ProCredit group in Europe, leading them through critical turnarounds, mergers and operational changes. She has extensive executive management expertise in banking in Central and Eastern Europe, with a specific focus on improving, building, and revamping institutions to deliver results, often by designing solutions that include organization and business model transformation.

Dr. Rosetti serves on the Board of Directors for First Bank Romania (formerly Piraeus Bank Romania). Dr. Rosetti holds a B.A. degree in Mathematics and a M.A. degree in Economics from the University J.W. Goethe in Frankfurt am Main, and a PhD from the Academy of Economic Studies in Bucharest. As an Operating Partner, Dr. Rosetti receives compensation from certain JCF funds and portfolio companies.

Ramona Jurubita

Country Managing Partner KPMG

Ramona Jurubita has about 20 years of experience in taxation and is the Country Managing Partner of KPMG, the audit and consulting company. She is the new president of the Foreign Investors Council (FIC), for a one-year term. She has finished the Faculty of Finance, Insurance, Banks and Stock Exchange within the Academy of Economics Studies of Bucharest as well as the Faculty of Law, at the Romanian-American University. She is a member of the ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants), the Chamber of Tax Consultants of Romania, CECCAR and the National Association of Evaluators of Romania (ANEVAR).

Mark Davis

Regional Director for Romania and Bulgaria, EBRD

Mark Davis has been appointed the new EBRD Regional Director for Romania and Bulgaria on 1 April 2019. Mr Davis is leading EBRD operations in the two countries and help boost their economies through investment, advice and support for reforms.

Prior to joining the EBRD, Mr Davis was an Executive Director at Goldman Sachs in Moscow (2010-2012) and Executive Director at Morgan Stanley in London (2007-2010). He began his career at the World Bank in Washington D.C. where he was a senior country economist responsible for Moldova, Ukraine and Kazakhstan between 1996 and 2006. Mark Davis holds a PhD in economics from Tulane University.
